MadFish Summer Cocktails

We might be heading towards the end of February but Summer isn’t quite over yet. With salt in our hair and skin a-glow MadFish wines are celebrating the good things in life. And what better way to celebrate the warmer days than to enjoying some delicious wine cocktails?

We’ve designed three delicious recipes that are sure to become your new favourites.

MADFISH WHITE SANGRIA

Forget red wine Sangria! Aussie summers can get exceptionally hot, so we need something more refreshing and stimulating. That’s why we came up with this delicious recipe. A delicious cocktail bursting with exotic flavours of mango and passionfruit, uplifting citrus aromas and sweet strawberries. The good thing about it? You can control the sweetness by adding sugar or using sugar free lemonade. We know a few of you are health conscious so we made sure this cocktail can be adapted to any diet! We chose the Riesling wine for this cocktail because of its generous flavours of peaches and toffee apple, its silky texture and mineral acidity that keeps the palate lasting and fresh. Fantastic for white sangria but also a stellar wine on its own that suits any occasion!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 bottle of MadFish Riesling (This can easily be substitute with MadFish SBS or Chardonnay but we highly recommend using our Riesling for this recipe)
  • 2 medium size mangoes
  • 2 apples
  • 1 large orange
  • 1 lime
  • 2 passionfruit
  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1L lemonade

Preparation: Slice all the fruits and mix them with the Riesling in a large bowl. Add the cinnamon sticks and let it all sit in the fridge for minimum 2 hours. This will allow for the fruits to marinate in the wine and spread their beautiful flavours. When ready, using a ladle to separate the fruits from the juice, pour the mixture into glasses (half way only) and top it up with ice cold lemonade. Make sure you leave room to add a couple of pieces of fruits in each glass after pouring the lemonade. Option to add some ice cubes if you wish. Your sangria is now ready to serve!

MADFISH GUAVA & BERRIES MOSCATO PUNCH

If pink is your favourite colour and you love sweet stuff…then look no further! This cocktail is what you’re missing in your life. Packed with delicious strawberries, juicy blueberries and jammy guava. This Moscato punch is the sexiest cocktail of the season! MadFish Moscato is like summer in a glass. Full of exotic notes of guava, quince, pomegranate and raspberry sorbet. The luscious sweetness of this wine is lightly spiced with musk and complimented by a zesty citrus crush and light fizz. On its own, this wine is fresh, moreish and low in alcohol, making it wonderfully light and can be enjoyed any time of the day or year.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of MadFish Moscato
  • 1 cup of guava juice
  • 2 cups of strawberries
  • 1 lime juice
  • 2 cups of blueberries (Option to add other types of berries, such as raspberry and boysenberry if in season)

Preparation: In a bowl, pour the Moscato, the guava juice and freshly squeezed lime juice. Slice the strawberries and add them to the mix. Add the whole blueberries, put the preparation in the fridge for minimum 2 hours. Serve chilled!

 

MADFISH WATERMELON MIMOSA

A simple yet refreshing cocktail that will be the perfect addition to your balmy summer nights. Our Watermelon Mimosa is created using our popular MadFish Prosecco. Prosecco is the ultimate social butterfly, easy going, popular at any party and enjoyed by all. With notes of golden delicious apples, beurré bosc pear and ginger spice, this wine is full of crisp, balanced by a honeyed and creamy richness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of MadFish Prosecco
  • 1 watermelon half
  • 1 lime juice
  • Mint for presentation

Preparation: Prepare a few slices of watermelon for decoration. Blend the rest of the watermelon in a blender to get a smooth juice. Add fresh lime juice and mix. Pour MadFish Prosecco in a sparkling wine glass or coupe glass (like we used on the photo). We recommend two parts sparkling wine and one part watermelon juice, but feel free to make a sweeter version of this cocktail by adding more juice. Top up the glass with freshly squeeze watermelon and lime juice. Add mint leaves and mini watermelon slice to the glass for presentation.
