Shiraz is very adaptable and as such it can grow in a wide array of different areas and climates, creating distinct styles according to the specific conditions where it is grown. In warmer climates, the wines display richer and more generous flavours, while the cool climates produce wines of refinement, elegance and spicy aromas. MadFish Shiraz strikes the perfect balance between these two distinct styles.
MadFish Shiraz is crafted from grapes sourced from the Margaret River and Great Southern regions. The temperate, maritime climate of Margaret River leads to wines that display the ripeness and opulence of warmer climate Shiraz mixed with the spice and elegance typically found in cooler ones. Margaret River Shiraz is riper and smoother than French examples, yet more floral and elegant than those of the Barossa Valley in South Australia.
Great Southern subregions of Frankland River and Mount Barker express a more continental climate characterised by an intensity and concentration of dark fruits with traces of spice, earth, and guiding tannins. MadFish Shiraz is a fabulous example of the multifaceted style WA Shiraz has to offer.
